Black @ Facebook

The visual identity for the Black @ Facebook community, inspired by black art.

The Black @ Facebook community is all about celebrating black history and culture. With this new branding, directly based on black art, the community comes together in an inspiring, bold, vibrant spirit.

The groovy shapes by Adrian Piper; Faith Ringgold’s colorful, geometric frames; a burst of energy from Julie Mehretu; Basquiat’s recurrent crown; and Robert Colescott’s and Karabo Poppy’s african-style patterns. All combined with a vibrant color palette inspired by Carolyn Lawrence’s canvases and the black and white contrast of Xaviera Simmons.

A big part of this community’s activity consists on gatherings around culture, including concerts, photography exhibitions, or interactive workshops. I worked with them to create branded swag, as well as digital templates to communicate and promote these events.

Project included:
– Creative ideation
– Brand visual identity development
– Communications design
